- Dog in the Lane

Our lane covered in snow
This is the lane outside the front of our house, its the top end of The Batch. A Batch is a steep sided valley. This snow fell on Wed morning, a bit later on Molder went up with the snow plough to shift the snow a bit.

Our pigs arrive in their new home
We decided to get some pigs in Feb 09. For two reasons mainly, one for food security and to get the pigs to act as natural rotovators. Taking alot of the hard work of digging and rotovating our heavy clay type soil. The ground has been cleared now and is ready for planting some veg and fruit in early 2010.

My beautiful girls
These are the first hens we bought back in Sep 2008. The breed is Warren and they are prolific layers. We still have them today and they are the best layers we have and the most sociable hens we have, and no i dont mean they like to go out for a pint before the comments start. They are philosophical and like to have a natter over a coffee.
Kaine and Clare over this evening – Kaine is great!!!
He has loads of great ideas for the new house, I will definitely ask him to help me
These are the pigs we picked up early 2009, February i think. A mixture of Gloscester old Spot X and Berkshire X. The X is a Duroc Boar, we had all the boys so they could be seperated from their sisters, we dont want any of that incest goin on on our farm. Anyway they’ve all had a great few months on our veg patch and are all in various stages of the food chain and the sausage tastes delicious.
